Welcome to Week #19!

Alright, so.... time's counting down. I don't believe I've ever counted the weeks of anything before. Days or months, maybe, but never weeks. In any event, here's the events leading into the 19th week:

By the end of this week, the baby will be measuring at 15 centimeters crown to rump, and weighing eight ounces, your baby is getting big! This week, permanent teeth buds are forming behind the milk teeth buds.Organs of reproduction are developing rapidly, getting ready to sustain future generations. The uterus is clearly visible in the female and the testes are apparent in the male fetus. If your baby is positioned just right on an ultrasound scan, the tiny penis is easily identifiable. So, if you don't wish to know the gender of your baby, ask the technician to alert you before your baby's lower body comes into view. Along with the lanugo, vernix caseosa forms on your baby's skin. Vernix is a white cheesy substance that protects your baby's skin from its aquatic environment ~ imagine how your skin would look if you sat in water for nine months! The placenta continues to grow and nourish the baby.

Okay, don't quite know what to make of the cheesy substance thing. Maybe I'll be able to make a sandwich after delivery!!! EWWWWWWWWWWW!!! Sorry, that was really gross!
