Welcome to Week #16!

Geez, doesn't it seem like I just posted week 15?? I guess the weeks are going by even faster than they seem. Well, here's what's happening this week:

By the end of this week, the baby will be weighing in at all of three ounces, s/he will be 12 centimeters crown to rump. Baby's head is now held high, and limb movements occur in a coordinated fashion. If you haven't already, you may begin to feel movement as the baby's bones harden. The legs are now longer than the arms, and s/he is moving those arms and legs frequently, especially since there's still lots of room to move within the uterus.
Fingernails and toenails are growing too. In fact, some babies need their nails clipped right after birth! The eyes have come closer together so that they face forward, and the baby begins to blink. On an ultrasound, you may catch sight of the sucking reflex as your baby sucks his or her thumb. And that's not all you may see: Gender is now recognizable, if you have an extroverted fetus!

I believe that our upcoming appointment would be the one where we could determine sex (although we are still sticking to the surprise thing right now). The next appointment is this Thursday and I believe we will be getting another ultrasound. I can' t wait. I will post photos again and let you know how it went!!!
